BAPRAS-BFIRST Trainee Awards
BFIRST founder Barbara Jemec has very kindly offered BFIRST Trainees an annual donation to fund our Trainee Awards, with the aim of encouraging trainee engagement with global reconstructive surgery.
BFIRST Founders Global Reconstructive Surgery Award
5 billion people around the globe are currently unable to access safe and effective surgical care. Plastic surgery has been involved with global health for decades and is perhaps its oldest and most notable partner.
Ms Barbara Jemec founded BFIRST in 2012 and has kindly supported this award to encourage debate and discussion of global reconstructive surgery.
The inaugural essay in 2018 had the title ‘What would your key considerations be when designing a successful reconstructive surgery training project in a developing world context?’ We were delighted that so many high quality submissions were received and can announce the prize was awarded to Miss Terouz Pasha (5th year Medical Student, King’s College London).
The title and submissions guidelines for the 2019 essay prize are yet to be released.
