As featured in our last newsletter, the Scotland and Northern Ireland branch of the Malaysian Medics International (MMI) society organised a fundraising open mic night on 09 March this year to raise funds for BFIRST. We were honoured not just by the event itself, but the fact that they have chosen us to be their official charity for 2019, which should present an exciting step in both increasing visibility of our organisation among students and raising extra funds!
The night, themed “beyond the four walls” was a platform for students to showcase their talents outside the hospital, whilst giving back to charity. There were a variety of entertainment performances from students and talks from doctors who have endeavoured on different and exciting opportunities outside the hospital. Mr Wee Lam had the pleasure of sharing his experiences doing medical charity work around the world with BFIRST to the students. Throughout the fun-filled night, students managed to raise about £200 for BFIRST – a huge thanks to the MMI Society for their fantastic fundraising efforts!
