On 24th November, BFIRST held its first ever Charity Ball in conjunction with the 70th Anniversary of BAPRAS. Hosted by Nigel Mercer, our own President, the Ball was a fantastic success in every way. The Masked Ball theme saw guests participating in fancy masks and having good fun meeting old friends and getting to know new ones. The event included both a silent auction and live one, hosted by Jo Caulfield, and due to the generosity of the guests, we managed to raise over 20 thousand pounds! The evening then finished off with an excellent band which saw guests dancing the night away!
BFIRST and the Ball Committee would like to thank everyone who supported the Ball in one way or another, including our President Nigel, the Ball committee led by Helen Roberts, Nadine Haram and Barbara Jemec, our sponsors Acelity and Prasis and to all of our guests who gave so generously of their time and money. In addition, there were members who could not make it that evening but who also donated to the cause of BFIRST!
On her 70th Anniversary, the event celebrated the best of what BAPRAS stands for. We are honoured to call BFIRST our own charity, and to play a role in her sustainability through events like the Ball and other fund raising activities. All proceeds go towards the work of BFIRST in fulfilling her vision, which is to Go, to Teach so they can Teach their Own. Even as this report is being written, there are teams that have just come back from Cambodia, and teams presently in Vietnam and teams going out to Sudan and Bangladesh!
We look forward to our next Ball November 2018! See you there!
